      South Point, also known as "Ka Lae", is reputed as the original landing point as the Tahitians began migration to Hawaii. It is also the Southern most point in the United States of America (not the Keys in Florida, which is widely reported). To talk about South Point (from a beach perspective), requires that you understand that two South Point. South Point Hawaii (also known as Ka Lae) is the somewhat out of the way but remarkable place that is famous for being the southernmost point in the United States (nope, it's not Key West). South Point Hawaii is a fantastic place to get away from more crowded areas of the Big Island and experience the vast beauty and power of the ocean.
